Today we went for the Children's Day Chess Challenge at Bishan. Jie Jie and I played under the Open category while Nicholas played under the Under-8 category.
For the first round, I was paired with Foo Kai En. Her SCF rating is 1392! She was very strong player but I fought hard but still I lost.
For the second round, I played with Matthian. He was not very difficult but he was two pieces up in the end. Still, I drawed with him because he made a careless move.
For the third round, I played with Nicholas Ho. He was rather easy and I won him.
I lost the fourth and seventh but won the fifth round. I was nervous when I saw the pairing list for the sixth round because my opponent was definately much stronger than me. But my coach assured me to concentrate and play normally, I will be able to win him. He was really tough but I don't know why when it was his turn to move, he took 10 minutes to make a move and in the end, he lost on time.
In summary, I scored 3.5 points! A half point more than jiejie!
We stayed for the prize giving ceremony even though our chance of getting anything is low. However, jiejie's name was called when they were giving out the 4th position and I wondered what happen to me? Then came the shocking annoncement! I was SECOND for the Under 10 girls! Yeah! I was so so happy!
