My report card from my violin teacher:
Attitude: Neutral, Positive only when familiar or when there is social circumstance to support her.
Progress: Is halting at best. Technical aspects of learning have been sacrificed in lieu of the exam and in an effort to keep motivation levels relatively high. Sight reads and does her aural quite well, helped no doubt by her participation at string ensemble.
Comments: Charmine is afraid of the responsibility to play well. She cooperates in learning when given step by step guides, but until she has completed the piece of music, she is hesitant to attempt it for herself if it is not a sight reading piece. This is even more glaring in her technical work, such as scales and arpeggios and more emphasis needs to be placed on taking in the “bitter medicine” for her progress to be more smooth flowing. Charmaine should take more responsibility in her playing, it sounds poorly because she is not attentive to the detail, if she put in more effort and concentration every single note, this will change in a very short time.
